What I got!!!

I GOT AN E READER!

If anyone knows me, you know that I read like crazy and that I've always wanted an ereader. Randy surprised the crap outta me and picked up one of these bad boys for me:


It's the "Literati" Wireless EReader. I'm obsessed! I've already bought "Unbearable Lightness" by Portia de Rossi. I can't put it down!

Randy also got me perfume, six gossip magazines, Kardashian Konfidential, and some nice shampoo.

We've spent Christmas playing Black Ops. I got a pink controller! I can kill a zombie like no one's business.

I thought I would be really sad on Christmas since everyone is out of town, but we really made it special, and I couldn't have asked for a better first married christmas!

Christmas shopping...

Tonight Randy and I went shopping for Annaleen's stocking. We ended up buying her a couple more presents.

Randy picked out a big box of girly legos, and a remote controlled car. Yeah, he wishes Annaleen was a boy apparently. It works because Annaleen is such a tomboy sometimes. I already wrapped all the presents too.

We're having our Christmas on Sunday with Annaleen. She's going on a vacation with her mom's family for Christmas and New Years so we won't see her until January. Sometimes it's just really hard that we don't see her very much. My parents and Megan are coming over and we're going to have a nice lunch, then we'll have to take her back home. All I know is that I am really going to treasure my time with her on Sunday.

We bought her some books and of course we still have all the other presents we've gotten her. She's so spoiled, but it's worth it! I'm just excited to put her stocking together. It really makes me feel like a mom when I do that kind of stuff. It was the same when I put her birthday party together in March. I love that little girl, and I'm so happy that I get to spend time with her!

Before we went shopping we worked all day. We've been craving sushi FOREVER! So we decided to splurge and went to an amazing sushi restaurant called Kinjo's. We used to go all the time, maybe even every week! We walked in there, and the host said WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? He is the funniest guy, and we ended up getting a bunch of free food. I love it there, and all you Calgary people better go! We even were joking with the host that he was going to steal Randy and I said that's fine as long as he brings sushi home with him. It was a really great night! :)

It's nights like these that I really appreciate everything I have, and that even though we're saving our pennies sometimes you just need to throw out the budget and do something nice! Hopefully we'll be able to find another way to make some extra money, but for now I'm a happy woman with my cute little family!

Fun, Fun Weekend!

This past weekend we had Annaleen and we had way too much fun. We went to see Tangled. I have to say it's the best movie I've seen in a long time! It was so cute, and Annaleen was obsessed. After that, we were at the mall anyways so we went shopping. There are these weird statue people. Annaleen was having so much fun taking pictures in front of them! She's a funny girl.

This girl was an igloo, and Annaleen loved it!

This was the only statue that didn't interact with Annaleen, but still Annaleen had to have a picture!

This guy was hilarious. He had his arms on his belly and right when I took the picture he moved and looked like he was scaring Annaleen. She had no idea!

This is the first one that we saw. Annaleen was so happy she said "This is incredible!" Everyone was laughing and calling her the cutest little girl. The fairy winked at her :)

On Sunday (the next day) we went swimming at Southland Leisure. I love swimming with my family, and especially at this one! There's so much for us to do. Annaleen was jumping into the deep end, going down really fast slides, and going off the diving board. She's a little daredevil! After we swam we went to my parent's house and made some sugar cookies. I didn't have make up or do my hair so I'll just show you this picture. We had a blast
And Annaleen definitely has my mom wrapped around her little finger. They were playing with my mom's nativity.

Lazy Day.

Today I had a lazy day. Except I deep cleaned the whole house. But here I am at 3:30 pm and I'm still in my pj's and haven't even brushed my hair. The reason I get to stay home is because I lost my job a couple of weeks ago. It's been really difficult to find a new job. I finally found a very part time job at Shoppers (it's like a Wallgreens). It doesn't pay nearly enough, but I'm hoping to get more hours and find another job.

So while I've been home I've been playing with my cats a lot. Seriously, I am a cat lady. PROUD of it too! Here's Theo hiding from me the other day. Well, he was just asleep but I thought it was really cute!

And here's Audrey the other day sleeping on me. She's so cute, but still really sick.

I've also been cooking A LOT! I've been making lots and lots of meals for Randy. :) Here's my pasta from the other night. Even though it's Hamburger Helper, it was still pretty good!

And here's our Christmas tree. It doesn't look this great anymore, Audrey has a fetish with our tree and climbs it NON STOP! So it's all bent, and broken. It has character though!

Last week we had the coldest day ever. It was -45 making Calgary the second coldest place in the WORLD! I'm sorry Utah friends, but you can't compain! Now I'm off to hang out with the hubby and we're going to play some Donkey Kong Returns. We're obsessed! Also, I'll be putting up a new header next week! :)

Crazy Cat Lady!

This story starts last year. When Randy and I moved out of his first place in Erin Woods we adopted his roommate's cat Rascal.



We renamed him Theo and everyone knows how much we love him! It was crazy for me to want to take in a cat because i used to definitely be a dog person! As my dad says: "Cats are evil, they'll eat your eyes out!"

So then when we were getting married Randy asked me what I wanted for a wedding present. I surprised myself and said I wanted another kitty!
So after lots of days at the SPCA we ended up with an SPCA cat but from my friend who adopted the kitty because she was about to be euthanized. We were so blessed to get this little kitty and we named her Audrey.


Now my family likes to joke that I'm the crazy cat lady! Well my friends, I admit it! I am!

Last night we were coming home from having dinner with my parents and we say a stray cat. We see this little cat all the time. It looks like Theo, and sometimes we mistake him for Theo. This cat also likes to peek in our windows. Well we had never gotten close enough to this cat until last night. He came up to me and had TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE matting all over him. (If you know anything about matted hair on a cat, it twists their skin so much it makes it so they can't perspirate and they bruise up and it's the most excruciating pain) It was so bad that I think I hurt him when I touched him. I wanted to keep it sooo bad, I almost started crying and told Randy we needed to save him!

We made some calls and found out that we can take him to a 24 hour hospital (as this was a friday night at 10 pm) and they would take the cat in. We dropped him off and it broke my heart so think i might not see this cat again. (He's one of theo's friends, and i think theo misses him now!) We would never be able to pay the hospital bills because the cat has to be shaved under sedation, so we had to give him to the hospital.

So now I'm trying to convince Randy to let me adopt this third cat, because theo needs his friend/girlfriend back! I'm hoping he'll let me!

Spooky October!

I just realized I haven't shown any pictures of our place! This is my amazing picture tree! I bought it from a friend and we decided to throw up some wedding pictures! I love it. That cute little Buck sign also has "Randy and Melissa" on it in white. We got this from my old ward in Utah! It's so amazing, and we love it!

We had Annaleen this weekend and we decided to decorate our place for halloween! Please excuse my mess, it's been a LONG week!

Personal?

I guess I've been on the more personal kick when it comes to my blog. I feel like it's my place to vent, and I always appreciate the feedback. The love I felt from the feedback from my last blog was making me cry. I love you girls.

I feel like life is finally on the best path. I got myself a brand new job as an optometrist assistant with REGULAR hours. Anyone who knows me knows that I used to work the worst shifts, and I'm so blessed to finally have hours where I can see my hubby & cook dinner. I LOVE IT! I've already made a couple of friends from work. All the girls are adorable!

Unfortunately after leaving my last job (Money Mart) I learned that there were rumors swirling that I had stolen money from the company and that's why I'm leaving. Their basis of accusing me? It was AMERICAN money and I'm AMERICAN. It's so stupid that people would do this to me. First of all it made me so furious and the second feeling was that I was so unbelievably sad about it. I put a lot of heart & work into my job. I was such a hard worker. For example, a month ago when I was really sick with the flu I worked a 65 hour week. 65 hours! Who does that for a measley pay check? I DID. I always stuck it out and dealt with the (lack for a better word) BULLSHIT! I put everything in this job, and it's so disappointing that people would tarnish your reputation just to make you look better.

Let's face it, I LOVE GOSSIP. It's definitely my biggest downfall and I'm working so hard to stop doing it. It's just a horrible habit and I know I've hurt people, and I hate that feeling. So I guess it's karma from all that? I honestly don't know, but I don't understand why someone would start rumors when it comes to things that could honestly get be DEPORTED and ARRESTED! Why would I do anything to ruin my life up here in Canada?

All I can know is that I never stole money, and I just hope those people evenutally know how much they've hurt me and that it's complete crap. I'm just glad that I have my family & friends to help me when things get tough.

Here I am!

I'll admit that lately I've been in a funk.

Trust me, I love my newlywed life, and I don't regret one single thing about it. I'm so incredibly happy with my life in the love aspect.

The unfortunate part is that I can't seem to love MYSELF. Ever since January I've really not been in a good place for my self confidence. I haven't really felt pretty, and actually just always feel really frumpy. I think another part of it is that I've always had trouble with my weight. I've never felt like I was the perfect size..ever. I just beat myself up about it non stop. Lately I've gained a little bit of weight, and it's probably because I got comfortable with Randy and wasn't such a stickler for my weight. I would have to say I was LOVING life, not worried about the stupid calories and working out. Well now it's definitely bit me in the butt and I can't seem to get out of my weight funk. Sure, I could be better at eating and I could work out more..but my life is crazy right now. I'm just happy right now. I am SO happy, I just wish I wasn't beating myself up non stop about my weight.

I guess I'm just writing this because I need to vent, and I'm also looking for advice.

So ladies, how have you found your self confidence and how have you changed your outlook in life to make you happy with how you are?

Our Wedding Day!

WARNING! PICTURE OVERLOAD!!!


So here I am a couple months later and finally getting around to this. I've been so busy, but I hurt my back and now I'm in bed, so here's our wedding day!

We got married on August 21st at a b & b in Okotoks, Alberta. It's about 30 minutes south of Calgary. It was a beautiful day. We had some smoke come from some fires in British Columbia, but it cleared up and there was just a morning haze on the river. We got married up on a cliff overlooking a river. I'll let the pictures do the talking now.

My parent's bishop married us. It was a short but sweet ceremony.

Here's the bridal party. Kate, Moka and Megan were my bridesmaids with Annaleen and Makayla as junior bridesmaids. Bentley and Bella were flower girls and Stella and Blakely were little baby flower girls. Perry was our ring bearer and Seamus, Cory and Derric were our groomsmen.

We loved our photographer Esther Beazer. She was a dream to work with and took some amazing shots. This is one of my favorites. There was a great road down to the B & B. It was great scenery for our shots.

Okay, so I totally lied. I'm SO busy right now. This week alone I've worked sixty hours, and I'm fighting a nasty head cold that my cute hubby gave me. excuse me..

For a moment while I scream in happiness!!! I got my ring today and it's the most beautiful thing! Sorry I just had to tell the five people that read this!!!

Also my finger is finally scabbing and I get my sutures out today! Finally! Ps I'm the biggest klutz in the world. Who breaks their finger in a door and has to get surgery three weeks before her wedding? That would be me! I hope I can find a good way to cover it up!

Anyways! I have 17 more days til I get married!!!!

Herro.

We only have one more month until this whole wedding shindig goes down. It will also be our one year anniversary. Since I know I'm going to be crazy busy with all my family up here and the final things for the wedding, I'm going to do our 11 month post instead of a year post. I think the year post will be a whole lot better! ;) So here's the start of our story...


So it started out withv a crazy Utah girl just getting a break and going up to visit the parents.


Little did this girl know that she would go on one of the best dates of her life.

She realized she was already falling for her Prince Charming in the first two days.
He swept her off of her feet, and she had to head back home to Utah, and couldn't wait to go back!
A month later she went back up to visit her Prince Charming.
They went on walks, Prince Charming played hookie and they went up to Banff for the day. She didn't think her life could get any better!

She realized how in love she was with this guy.
Fast forward a month, and she moved up to be with him. They went to great parties, and had so much fun falling in love.
They spent their first christmas together and started new traditions.
They spent all their time together, and eventually she got her wish, and Prince Charming became her fiancee.

They had their first family portrait done at a Christmas party.

And spent even more time together.

Eventually they figured out how much they love sushi, and their fancy dinners became Kinjo's on Friday nights.

They went to hockey games, and Prince Charming got his princess to realize how much she loved the hockey culture.

She went away for a couple of weeks, and moved in with him when she came back. They adopted a fat tabby cat named Theo and started their new life together.
They had lots of cute dates, and just thought about how amazing their life was.


They had their engagements done and started the planning of their wedding.


Now here they are just about to start a new chapter in their life.
